Registration in Prague

The FQMT04 conference registration will take place in two following sites:

Masaryk Residence Halls (Masarykova kolej): On Sunday July 25, 6 - 9 p.m
Wallenstein Palace (Valdstejnsky palac): On Monday July 26, 8 - 9 a.m.

You can find the description of both places and how to get there on the www page Venue.

The participants are kindly asked to register preferable, if possible, on Sunday, July 25 in the Masaryk Residence Halls.

Participants who will register on Monday in the Wallenstein Palace are kindly requested to come till about 8.15. It helps to avoid possible time problems with entering the Palace - see below.



Entrance to and stay inside the Wallenstein Palace

There are some limitations related to the Wallenstein Palace due to the two facts:
1. the Wallenstein Palace is the seat of the Senate of the Czech Republic
2. the Wallenstein Palace is a historical building

Please, read carefully the following text to know about these limitations

The entrance to the Wallenstein Palace: it is a little more complicated because of the security reasons (the Palace is the seat of the Senate of the Czech Republic) - all participants need to pass the metal detection frame and their things have to be screened by x-rays similarly as at airports. So, participants are kindly asked to come to the Wallenstein Palace not at the last moment just before the beginning of lectures.

When entering and moving inside the Wallenstein Palace, all participants are requested to have with them their badges which they will receive during the registration; badges will also serve as the identity card for the security guards in the Wallenstein palace.

The Wallenstein Palace is the historical building and the conference participants will move in some historically precious rooms.
As a result participants have to obey following rules when in the Wallenstein Palace:

Arrival to Prague

By train: you can get out either at the Main Station ("Hlavni nadrazi") or at the station "Nadrazi Holesovice".

To get to the centre of Prague from train stations: The best choice is to use underground. Both stations are on line C of Prague underground.


By plane: you land at the Prague Ruzyne International Airport.

To get to the centre of Prague from Airport you can take either:

Shuttle service:

- to a coach terminal - downtown, close to the Metro station "Namesti republiky"
Departures from the airport: each 30 minutes, price CZK 90.

- to any other place in Prague
Departure at any time, price about 700 CZK per vehicle.

Taxi: The price per km: CZK 25 or so.
The price from the airport to the city should not exceed CZK 600-800, depending on the destination.

Public transport: Bus No. 119 takes you to the Metro terminal Dejvicka (line A).
You will get out just in front of the Diplomat hotel within 20 minutes
You can use the standard public transport tickets, cost CZK 12, available at newspaper agents or vendor machines.



Traffic diversion

During July and August 2004, because of repairs, there is an exclusion of all surface traffic in the Chotkova street linking upper and lower parts of the Prague Castle neighbourhood. Tram No 23 is cancelled; tram Nos 20, 22 are diverted to far-away streets, tram No 18 circulates between Malostranska station and the Old-Town part of Prague. The only recommendable connection between Dejvice (Dejvicka and Hradcanska stations) and Mala Strana (Malostranska station) is by the underground – line A (see Maps).
